A Dubsado alternative for wedding photographers and vendors

Dubsado is a genuinely good operating system for a creative business. But it is a system you have to build and run. If the piece you actually need is the wedding contract, this page compares both honestly, including the cases where Dubsado is the right answer.

Which one fits you

Choose Dubsado if

  • You have the time (or budget for a specialist) to set the system up properly
  • Automation across the whole client journey is your bottleneck, not the contract

Look at VowSign if

  • The contract is the part that hurts, and the rest of your stack already works

Questions

Is Dubsado hard to set up?

It is a system you configure yourself: service profiles, forms, workflows, payment plans. Owners who want it done properly often book a certified Dubsado specialist or spend a few weekends on it. VowSign ships the wedding contract wording ready to fill in, so the first signed contract can go out the same day.

Does Dubsado have a free plan?

No free plan. Their pricing page (checked October 2026) leads with a 21-day free trial with full Premier access and no card required. After the trial the Starter plan is $35 a month billed monthly or $335 a year.

Do I need Dubsado if I only need contracts?

Probably not. Dubsado earns its price when you use scheduling, workflows and client portals together. If the contract is the only thing you send digitally, a smaller tool that only does contracts will be faster and cheaper.

Can I set up Dubsado myself, or do I need a specialist?

You can. A Dubsado-specialist guide puts most DIY builds at 20 or more hours on the build alone, and often leaves gaps that keep the process more manual than expected. If the contract is the only piece you need, that time buys little. VowSign wedding templates are ready to fill in, so the first signed contract can go out the same day.

Can I use my own contract in VowSign?

Yes. On the Pro plan you can upload your own contract as a PDF, place the signature fields and send it.

Are electronic signatures legally valid?

In the United States, electronic signatures are generally valid under the federal ESIGN Act and state UETA laws when both sides agree to sign electronically. Individual clauses can still depend on your state, so have a local attorney review your contract once.

General information, not legal advice. Contract and fee rules differ by state; have a licensed attorney review any contract before you use it with clients.
